PGA Shell Open Preview 3/27/17
There are now four daily fantasy sports sites that feature golf, FantasyDraft, Draft, FanDuel and DraftKings. Fortunately we have some phenomenal premium content here at FanVice and are running a promotion special which can be found here.
Total DraftKings Prize Pool: $1.2M guaranteed in large field tournaments at entry points ranging from $3 to $333 with more contests likely to be added by the DFS leader in the sport.
Total FanDuel Prize Pool: $400K guaranteed at price points ranging from $3 to $1,060 which is nice considering this is just their third week of golf. They have a unique Rounds 1&2 and Rounds 3&4 roster setup.
Total FantasyDraft Prize Pool: $15K with a typically somewhat challenging salary algorithm and nowhere near the mass-entry gamers that are at FanDuel and DraftKings.
Draft: Will be offering their live draft H2Hs, 3-mans and they have been experimenting with six and ten entry contests.
The key event details we will want to be aware of will help us shape our research and lineup construction strategies.

Course Notes: This event is one of the eleven PGA Tour stops held on public courses.
The course is set up as a Par-72 event with a total yardage of 7,457 (3,703 out / 3,754 in) and water hazards on about a third of the holes with strategically placed bunkers protecting the others.
This course tends to have one of the lowest “scramble” scores (when a golfer does not make the green in regulation but still saves par) so focusing on consistent players who rank well in GIR is an important metric to consider.
Over the last dozen years, this tournament has had some very close finishes including five playoffs and five within two strokes or less.
The event has been held as several area golf clubs, but since 2006 it has been played on the current course since 2006. Phil Mickelson holds the 72-Hole Record of 268 (-20 to par). Four golfers are tied for the 18-Hole Record of 63 (-9 to par) at on the current course; Phil Mickelson and Jimmy Walker in 2011 and Adam Scott and Johnson Wagner in 2008.
Weather: There could be some spring thunderstorms on the weekend with highs in the low-80s and lows in the upper-60s.
Field Notes: In a fun twist, the winner of this event will be eligible to gain entry to the field at Augusta for the Masters in two weeks. This actually helped the winners in three of the last four years (Jim Herman in 2016, Matt Jones in 2014 and D.A. Points in 2013).
