NHL Power Plays 4/14/2018

First things first, it is Saturday which has a four game main slate. Our focus is on the main as always. However, in the Slack chat, there will be picks and strategy all day and all evening up until lock. The playoffs are an unrelenting beast.

Injuries are a theme in the early going and watch to see who was banged up from the weekend. Goalie confirmations for quite a few will come later in the day. The games start at 3:00 pm ET.

Teams On The Back End Of A Back To Back

Let’s get into the centers of attention on this night. There will be more emphasis on values. However, in our picks, there will be more of the usual choices. The goal is to mix more value in this evening. A good amount of chalk exists. Some chalk will have to be played. Please note that we have kept the format change for the playoffs.

Travis Zajac ($3500 on DK, $4500 on FanDuel)

There is something different in the air. John Hynes stubbornly plasters Zajac on the first power play unit, which means he has value. This is because Tampa Bay’s penalty kill is just 74.4% since the All-Star Break. It is not like a fleeting trend. Zajac has been shooting a bit more of late which slightly increases his floor (about a half shot a game more). It is going to be intriguing to see how Zajac keeps up against Tampa’s faster skaters. That may determine how he is utilized to a point. However, the risk is minimal especially on DraftKings, because of price.
