NHL Power Plays 4/20/17

The DFS sites are holding true by giving us some solid prize pools.  With four games on the slate tonight, two of the teams are in complete desperation mode and they will be playing a win or go home game tonight.  It should be a great night for NHL hockey.  The Blackhawks and the Blue Jackets are backed up to a wall and must win to continue their postseason.  Let’s dig into the slate, and see if we can find that low owned play to help take down that GPP. Here are your power plays for Thursday night, Good luck!

Sidney Crosby – PIT vs CLS – $8,500

Crosby now has points in three games straight and he has six points total in those three games.  The Pens are coming back home for game 5 with a chance to close the series out, and get a little bit of rest before the next round.  This series has been one filled with offense and every slate winner has had pieces of this game.  Crosby gets last change tonight and Coach Mike Sullivan will take every advantage of it.  The penguins juggernaut offense has not disappointed us in the post season yet as they have potted at least three goals in every game and actually four in all but one.  Look for Crosby’s leadership and talent to lock it down tonight.

Jonathan Toews – CHI vs NSH – $6,400

The Blackhawks are facing elimination tonight, and if they plan to keep their season alive then Toews and the studs need to step up.  Toews gets you exposure to the top line of Patrick Kane and Artemi Pararin on the power play, which has been few and far between this series.  But also  Toews has been double shifting, and Coach Quenneville who is known to be a line shaker, will put Toews with the Kane and Panarin on even strength also if he needs to.

Ryan Johansen – NSH vs CHI – $5,800

Johansen is riding a three game point streak in the playoffs and has five points in that time.  The Preds seemed to have figured out the Blackhawks and how to stop them.  The top line with   has been lights out this series and they have proved they are one of the top lines in hockey.  Johansen isn’t a shoot first guy so if I play him I will always stack him alongside hit teammates because he is great facilitator.  The Blackhawks are against the ropes, we’ll see if a Johansen and the boys can deliver the knockout blow tonight.

Jake Guentzal – PIT vs CLS – $6,400

Connor Sheary – PIT vs CLS – $5,800

These guys have stepped up big for the pens and they have been playing lights out alongside the arguably best player in the league Sidney Crosby.  The pens get up for big games at home and with the offensive talent of this top line, I just think it’s too much, especially in a knockout game at home.  Sheary and Guentzal have been firing the puck regularly and with Crosby facilitating them they should get plenty of looks tonight with last change.  These guys are my highest exposure tonight.

Joe Pavelski – SJ @ EDM – $6,900

Pavelski finally showed up in the post season last game firing off five shots, lighting the lamp twice, and chipped in a helper.  The Sharks were dominant last game and there has been a stark contrast in the Oilers taking penalties.  Edmonton has taken 22 penalties in the four playoff  games so far, that’s a recipe for disaster, especially with Pavelski and Brent Burns looking to tee off.  I love the top power play for the Sharks tonight and I’ll have exposure until the Oilers show me they can stop taking penalties.

Viktor Arvidsson – NSH vs CHI – $6,200

I’ve been talking about Arvidsson since the beginning of the year and he has been a force this year.  He was constantly in the top 10 in the league in ICF% and he is a quick shifty player with a ton of talent.  He has at least four shots on goal in two of the last three games, and the Blackhawks are giving up a ton of scoring chances.  The main question like I said in Johansen’s write up is, can Nashville finally get over the hump and take down the Hawks that have been holding them back year after year?

Brent Burns – SJ @ EDM – $8,100

Burns has had a slow post season, but like Pavelski he broke out last game with three power play assists.  Burns has a massive ceiling because he does it all, logs huge minutes, take a ton of shots, quarterbacks the power play and he blocks a ton of shots.  Until the Oilers stop taking penalties I’ll be riding the Sharks and watching Burns tee it up.

Seth Jones – CLS vs PIT – $5,300

Jones is going to get all the playing time he can handle tonight, now that Zach Werenski has been sidelined for the rest of the year.  Jones has a lot of offensive awareness and he can pitch in at any time of the game.  The Jackets should be aggressive all game with their playoffs at stake tonight, and now Jones is also playing on the top power play line.  You can also look to Jack Johnson who has played a ton of ice time and makes for a great value play.

Carey Price – MON vs NYR – $8,100

Price let me down the other night but I’m going back to the well tonight.  He has been solid at home this year and he still hasn’t given up more than two goals in the playoffs. The crowd should be into this game as it is tied up at two a piece and I think the Habs can find the offense tonight against the Rangers, who don’t mind giving a ton of shots up.
