NHL Power Plays – April 18th
Last nights playoffs didn’t disappoint in any way, all three games had to be decided in extra frames! Tonight we get a three game slate and the DFS sites are still producing semi solid prize money. First we have the Rangers trying to even up the series as they sit down 2-1 as of tonight. Then we get the offensive juggernauts, the Pittsburgh penguins looking to close the series door on the Blue Jackets and get some early rest. It should be an interesting game, as the fourth game is always the hardest to win. Finally we get to see the Oilers who are up 2 – 1 in their series to the Sharks. Let’s take a look at some players that can help you take down one of these GPP’s tonight.
Schedule for Tuesday April 18th, 2017
|Montreal||NY Rangers||7:00 PM|
|Edmonton||San Jose||10:00 PM|
Evgeni Malkin – PIT @ CLS – $8,100
When it comes to closing series out there are a couple people that know how to do it, and Malkin is one of them. Malkin has at least one point in every game of the series so far and a total of six points. The Jackets will most likely deploy the Brandon Dubinsky line on the Crosby line again, leaving the Malkin line with better matchups. One other thing to note is that the Blue Jackets have lost Zach Werenski for the rest of the season due to taking a puck to the face and that’s a big blow because he is their top defenseman and he plays on the power play. In a three game sample, the Jackets are giving up the most scoring chances on the slate and with the Penguins high powered offense, I just don’t see any way they don’t close the door on the Jackets season tonight.
Brandon Dubinsky – CLS vs PIT – $4,300
Dubinsky has played some inconsistent hockey this year but he has been one of the bright spots for the Jackets in the playoffs. He had two points last game, he has the highest possession number on his team with a 59.05 CF%, and he has generated the most scoring chances. He is a bit of a wild card because he is playing the shutdown role at home, but we aren’t sure what the lines will look like tonight as Coach Torts could shake them up yet again. If the Jackets plan to stay in the postseason, someone needs to step up and Dubinsky has shown flashes of goodness lately.
Cam Atkinson – CLS vs PIT – $6,500
Despite the tough matchup Atkinson has been himself firing the puck early and often. Last game he lit the lamp twice. The Jackets playoffs are on the line tonight and I’m expecting them to be firing on all cylinders giving everything they got. Atkinson will be leaned on heavily to produce and he should fire off plenty of shots tonight. The Pens don’t mind giving up scoring chances, so there should be opportunities tonight.
Bryan Rust – PIT @ CLS – $4,500
Rust is a solid punt tonight and makes for a good addition to the second line stack for the Penguins. He has emerged in the postseason playing solid hockey. Rust has good numbers in the playoffs so far, he leads the forwards in Corsi with a 53.01 CF%. Rust also gets good looks and opportunities because his two other linemates demand all the attention they can get. Rust’s salary equalizes the salaries between Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel to make it a complete stack. Facing the Jackets with their top defenseman out could give more chances tonight.
Zach Kassian – EDM @ SJ – $3,400
Kassian has been an under the radar player that has produced big in the playoffs for the Oilers. He saves you a ton of salary to play the studs we are looking for. Kassian has beed shooting the puck on a regular basis and he has a goal in each of the last two games. He has been moved to the third line and he has seen a big bump in minutes because of his production. If he can get a couple shots on net for us and hey maybe even a point, he should pay that small salary off easily.
Seth Jones – CLS vs PIT – $5,300
Jones is going to get all the playing time he can handle tonight, now that Zach Werenski has been sidelined for the rest of the year. Jones has a lot of offensive awareness and he can pitch in at any time of the game. The Jackets should be aggressive all game with their playoffs at stake tonight, and now Jones is also playing on the top power play line.
Oscar Klefbom – EDM @ SJ – $5,200
Klefbom is no stranger to letting the cannon loose, he has at least two shots on net in every playoff game so far. Klefbom also quarterbacks the top power play unit, and he logs big minutes. Klefbom also doesn’t mind blocking shots either, he has at least two blocks in each game also. He has a solid floor and some good upside tonight.
Carey Price – MTL @ NYR – $8,000
Price is a solid tourney option tonight because he is the most expensive goalie on the night and he is on the road. Price has been super solid in this series so far with a .946 save %. The Rangers offense has been inconsistent and they have been finding new ways to lose. The Habs will look to steal yet another one tonight to try and finish the series out in their own building.
