CENTERS

Mikko Koivu – MIN @ VAN – $5,600

The wilds second line has been producing points like a machine and they are sitting in a real nice spot tonight on the road.  Koivu has seven points in his last ten games, and he’s averaged about two shots per game.  The matchup is very nice as the Canucks have been playing some pretty bad hockey lately.  Vancouver has given up 13 goals in their last four games, and against a team like the Wild that spells trouble.  Minnesota can pour pucks in the net on any given night, and I love the second stack with Koivu – Grandland – Zucker.

John Tavares – NYI vs CAR – $7,300

Tavares has put together great stats and has been playing like the elite center is known for.  He has 16 points in his last ten games.  Tavares is leaned on massively as the Isles lack any kind of depth.  Tavares has been shooting the puck a ton lately also as he is averaging 4.5 shots on goal over his last 11.  Carolina is known as a team that grinds games out and they are a strong possession team, but Tavares is matchup proof and he should go overlooked on a ten game slate tonight.  His upside is always massive, and all you have to do is look at his last game against the Canes where he had 2 goals.

Ryan Johansen – NSH vs DET – $5,500

Johansen gets a nice matchup tonight at home against the Red Wings, who are playing on the hind end of a back to back.  The Wings are giving up just shy of 33 shots on goal, and they are allowing 3.25 goals against in the road this year so far.  The Preds play solid hockey at home and I like the top line tonight as Johansen also plays on the top power play unit.  Johansen has nine points in his last ten, and I like his chances to tally one tonight.

Alexander Wennberg – CLS vs NJ – $5,800

Wennberg has picked his game up lately, he has three points in his last two games.  The thing I like the most is his shot volume though,  I have been timid about rostering him unless it’s a stack because he just didn’t shoot enough for me. Wennberg is a phenomenal facilitator but now that his shot volumes have come up I like him even more.  Both teams are playing on back to back games, but Columbus at home is a different monster.  New Jersey is going to have their hands full tonight and I’m expecting the Jackets to sling rubber early and often.

Derek Brassard – OTT @ BUF – $4,700

Brassard could be a sneaky play tonight on this big slate.  He plays on the third line and he will get pretty much all the depth matchups tonight against the Sabres, and he also plays on the second power play unit.  Brassard has nine points in his last ten games and he is currently riding a two game point streak.  Brassard has the second highest individual CF% on even strength for the senators with a 55.1% icf.  Buffalo can be attacked on all levels pretty much, especially on the power play as they have the weakest kill in the league besides the Stars.  Brassard is a nice way to save some cap tonight with some solid upside.

WINGERS

Joe Pavelski – SJ vs ARI – $7,000

The late night hammer is definitely in effect tonight, the question is how chalky will they be?  Pavelski is an extremely strong play tonight against the weakly Coyotes.  Arizona sits near the bottom of every stat relevant to dfs.  The Sharks should see some extra man advantages tonight and with Pavelski seeing an average of 3:27 of ice time in the power play, I love me some Pavelski.  It also doesn’t hurt that he has seven points in his last four games.

Mikael Granlund – MIN @ VAN – $6,300

Granlund has been playing out of his mind lately and it shows with his 11 game point streak going.  I’m riding the streak tonight as he should get plus matchups all night as the Sedin line should be trying to shut down the Wilds top line of Niederreiter – Staal – Coyle.  The Wild should give the Canucks more than they can handle tonight and I’ll have slot of exposure tonight.

Brad Marchand – BOS vs TOR – $6,800

Marchand has been hot, extremely hot with ten points in his last five games.  His whole line has been playing phenomenal hockey and they get a decent matchup tonight against the young gun Maple Leafs.  Toronto is going to be a great hockey team no doubt about it, they have so much young talent but that’s also their downfall right now.  The Maple Leafs give up a ton of shots on net, and they make a lot of mistakes.  The top line of the bruins is one of the strongest possession lines in the league, and they will make mistakes count.  I like the top line of Boston tonight. You could also play  Tomas Hertl to save some cap as he plays on the top line alongside Pavelski in full strength.

Artemi Panarin – CHI @ DAL – $6,400

Panarin busted out of his big slump last game with a goal and an assist and he looks to do more damage tonight against the Stars.  Tonight is a great chance to get the bread man at a discount with the matchup.  The Stars have been horrible on the penalty kill and Panarin plays on the top unit and the Blackhawks have specialized plays to give him the puck.  When he sets up at the left circle, he can snipe.  His shots is ridiculously good and he is such a shifty player that defenders can hang with him.  I love the Hawks top power play line tonight, the question is can you afford all of them?  Start with Panarin.

Patrick Eaves – DAL vs CHI – $5,200

Eaves makes for an interning play tonight and it could work out.  He is playing alongside the hot Jamie Benn and he also plays on the top power play unit.  Eaves shot volume has been solid and he is seeing plenty of opportunities.  The Hawks can be picked on as their penalty kill has lacked considerably.  The Hawks are also giving up the third most scoring chances per 60 in the league with an average of 8.93.  The Stars will be low owned and you could get eaves with minimal ownership tonight.

DEFENSEMAN

Brent Burns – SJ vs ArI – $8,400

Burns is the definition of the late night hammer tonight.  He is second in the league with just shy of four shots on net per game.  That’s the amount that actually make it to the net, I wouldn’t be surprised if you see double that tonight.  Burns is leaned on heavily for his offense and he plays in every situation there is.  The Coyotes are a bad team, and their penalty kill is especially bad.  If you can afford Burns tonight, he is one of my top plays on the board.

Seth Jones – CLS vs NJ – $5,300

Jones has been on fire with a five game point streak and seven points in that time.  He has been logging more ice time each game and he is in a solid spot tonight.  Jones is a gifted offensive defenseman and he isn’t afraid to shoot the puck.  The Devils are giving up the fifth most shots in net in the road, and Jones should be able to let loose a bunch tonight as both teams are on back to backs.

Rasmus Ristolainen – BUF vs OTT – $5,400

Risto logs an astronomical amount of minutes for the Sabres, and they lean on him heavily for his defense and his shot from the point.  He is averaging almost three shots on net per game and he also lets the cannon loose on the power play.  Ottawa tends to show weakness in their defense and they do give up some opportunities, and tonight at home Risto could tally a point.

John Klingberg- DAL vs CHI – $5,000

Klingberg has stepped up and he is finally showing the offense he showed us last year.  He has four points in his last three games.  His shot volume is still a tad inconsistent but it show promise with his last game having five.  He is getting plenty of ice time, and sees big minutes on the power play, which is where we want to pick on the Hawks.  The Hawks have struggled all year killing penalties and sit in the bottom ten of the league with a 78.5% kill rate.

Mattais Ekholm – NSH vs DET – $3,900

Ekholm is an interesting play as the Preds have decided to keep P.K Subban and Ryan Ellis on the second power play unit to spread their offense out, leaving Ekholm on the top unit.  Ekholm only has three points in his last ten games, but he is a semi consistent shooter.  He is worth a dart tonight.

GOALIES

Martin Jones will be by far the chalkiest goalie tonight, and for good reason, but there are a couple other options to look over that have some good upside tonight also.  And you should get them at a way lower ownership.

Devin Dubnyk – MIN vs VAN – $7,900

Dubnyk at home his year has been rock solid at 15-5-0.  He is sporting a 1.91GAA and a .927 save %.  He is my top goaltender of the night.  I know some people might worry about the shot volume he might not face, but I can tell ya that a shutout is nice to see in your scores also.  I’m not guaranteeing a shutout, but he has the best chance tonight in my opinion.

Pekka Rinne – NSH vs DET – $8,100

Rinne comes into tonight with some momentum coming off of a 31 save shutout against the Oilers Thursday night.  Detroit is playing on the hind end of a back to back tonight and I just don’t see the Wings stealing one at Bridgestone tonight, which is a very hard place to play in as a visitor.  Rinne sports a solid 2.07GAA and a .927 save %at home this year.
