Back end of a back to back Three game in four nights *   CENTERS   John Tavares – NYI @ ARI – $7,000 Tavares had a great matchup last night and failed to score a point, but he did have five shots on goal.  Tonight he gets just as good of a matchup against the Coyotes.  Arizona is giving up 10.67 scoring chances against per 60 minutes, which is the worst in the NHL by far.  The Coyotes are also giving up the most shots on net per game at 34.1 and also the second most goals per game.  Both teams are on the hind end of a back to back tonight and I think this game could be a sneaky game stack with both backup goaltending.   Austin Matthews – TOR vs Montreal – $7,900 Matthews sits in a great spot tonight against an injury riddled Canadiens team.  Even though Matthews is playing on a back to back it’s doesn’t worry me as he is a young superstar in the making.  The Canadiens have loaded all their weapons on one line and that means the Kadri line will get the opportunity to shut them down.  Matthews is going to get positive matchups up night, and with a point in every game in his last nine he should be able to keep the streak going.   Connor McDavid- EDM @ NJ – $8,000 McDavid is in. Solid spot tonight, but he might be a little chalky as he takes on his former teammate Taylor Hall.  McDavid leads the league in points and also leads the league in assists.  He has been a little streaky lately, but with the Devils playing on a back to back he gets an upgrade in matchup.  The Devils are still giving up just shy of three goals per game, and now that the Oilers have moved Leon Draisaitl up to the top line, there should be no shortage of chances and opportunities or McDavid.   Patrice Bergeron – BOS @ FLA – $6,100 Bergeron had an awful start to the year but has bounced back in a big way, he is an elite shut down center that can also fill the net up.  Bergy is ranked fifth in the NHL with 3.61 shots on goal per game.  Florida has been having a rough go at it lately, and with them playing on the hind end of a back to back and their third game in four nights, goals should be had.   Evgeny Kuznetsov – WSH @ Ottawa- $5,500 Kuznetsov has been playing solid hockey lately firing off ten shots on net in his last four games, and adding six points along with it.  He is playing in the second power play unit also.  With TJ Oshie back in the Caps lineup, the Senators are going to have their hands full with the top line leaving Kuznetsov with the weaker matchups.  The Caps are also sporting the fifth best CF% in he league, and they should have a lot more possession plays than the Senators.  Kuznetsov makes for a good pivot off of what I believe will be a higher owned Nicklaus Backstrom – $6,200.   Logan Couture – SJ vs DET – $6,100 Couture makes for a great late night hammer tonight as he takes in the Red Wings.  Detroit is giving up just shy of 32 shots on net per game on the road this year, and they are a middle of the pack possession team.  Couture is looking to add onto his two game point streak tonight, and I like his chances.   WINGERS   Vladimir Tarasenko – STL vs Dallas – $8,100 Tarasenko is trucking along with over a point per game average and gets to take on the Stars tonight at home.  Dallas is giving up the fifth most goals per game, Averaging three goals against.  The Stars goaltending is also very inconsistent and they best way to attack them is on the power play where Tarasenko shines.  Dallas has the fourth worst penalty kill rate with a low 76.2% kill rate.   Max Pacioretty – MON @ TOR – $6,700 Pacioretty has caught fire lately since the Habs have stacked their top line with Radulov as patches has six points in his last ten games.  Pacioretty has been firing the puck early and often as he has 26 shots on net in his last four games, that’s ridiculous.  He is going to have to deal with the Kadri line tonight but that still won’t be enough to shut him down.  Toronto gives up a ton of shots on net and they are playing on the hind end of a back to back and their goaltender is also playing his second game in as many nights.  Pacioretty makes for s great stack tonight with Alexander Radulov and with Philip Danault or Shea Weber.   Patrick Maroon – EDM @ NJ – $4,600 If there is anyone that gets a massive bump in production from playing with line mates, it’s Maroon.  The winger was moved to the top line alongside Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl and has taken advantage of it ten fold.  Maroon is averaging a point per game in his last seven games, and he’s coming off a game with a hat trick.  Playing alongside two elite players is recipe for success and at his price he is a bargain.  The matchup tonight is a plus matchup as the Devils are playing on a back to back and they are no stranger to giving goals up.   Connor Brown- TOR vs MON – $4,300 Brown has nine points in his last seven games and he is getting plenty of looks with teams focusing on his line mate Austin Matthews.  Brown is also playing on the top power play unit for Toronto and he should see the depth matchups tonight against the hobbled Habs tonight.   Ryan Strome – NYI @ ARI – $3,500 Strome lit the lamp last night and he gets a nice matchup tonight against the Coyotes.  He plays on the top power play unit and makes for a solid value play tonight on a night where we need to spend up on the stud centers in great spots.   Kris Versteeg – CGY vs VAN -$4,500 Versteeg is playing some solid hockey lately with eight points in his last ten games.  These teams faced off last night and Versteeg had three shots on net, but Calgary plays better hockey at home.  Versteeg also gets you exposure to Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau on the top power play unit.   DEFENSEMAN   Johnny Boychuk – NYI @ ARI – $4,400 Boychuk is a solid defenseman that gets shots and doesn’t mind blocking hem either.  It seems that him and Nick Leddy swap off with power play duties, but I’m rolling with Boychuk tonight as he served a little more time on the ice last night, and he also had five shots and a power play goal.  Arizona has a putrid penalty kill just like Dallas and I want my defensive exposure tonight against bad kill   Kevin Shattenkirk – STL vs DAL – $5,000 I’m looking at Shattenkirk tonight because he plays on the top power play line and tonight he gets the Stars who have an awful penalty kill.  Dallas is the fourth worst team killing penalties with a 76.2% kill rate.  His shot volume varies and if he can get enough shots tonight he should make for a great play.  On another note, I don’t mind Alex Pietrangelo or even Colton Parayko either tonight.   Dougie Hamilton – CGY vs VAN – $5,700 Hamilton has eight points in his last ten games.  He is fifth in defenseman with 116 shots on net, averaging just about three shots per game.  He also blocks a couple shots too.  Hamilton  sees power play time and the Canucks are in the bottom ten in the league.  Both teams are dealing with fatigue issues and there should be plenty of power plays to come tonight.   Nathan Beaulieu – MON @ TOR – $3,500 Beaulieu was promoted to the top power play unit and he has produced fairly well as a value play, he has six points in his last ten games.  He’s logging pretty good minutes as the Habs are without Andrej Markov.  Toronto gives a lot of shots up and they also take a lot of shots, so Beaulieu will have plenty of block opportunities.   GOALIES   Tuukka Rask – BOS @ FLA – $7,600 Rask has been a great road goalie this year sporting a 11-4-3 record.  He has a very good history against the Panthers as he has played them 22 times and he has an 81.8% win rate with a .949 save% and a 1.53GAA.  I honk he comes to Florida and steals one as the Panthers are on a hind end of a back to back.   Braden Holtby – WSH @ OTT – $7,700 It’s not often I recommend road goalies but it’s even rarer I recommend TWO of them!  But the spots are too good to not try them in gpps tonight.  Holtby has been playing great and he just stopped the Blue Jackets from tying the win streak record with a 29 save shutout.  If Holtby was at home he would be way more expensive, so you’re getting a nice price break.  He should see enough work and rack up saves, and his offense should be able to supply enough fire power to get him the W.
