BACK to BACK Third game in four nights *

CENTERS   Sidney Crosby – PIT vs STL – $8,300 Crosby usually needs no introduction as he one of the best players in the game and he has hat trick upside every night.  I’m thinking people could probably overlook him tonight as he squares off against the Blues.  St. Louis is not the big defensive team they used to be anymore.  The Blues have been giving up 3.50 Goals Against per game in January away from their home building.  The Blues have also taken a massive hit on their penalty kill in January.  In ten games this month they are ranked second to last with only a 72% kill rate.  Crosby makes for a great sneaky play as he can score at any time, but I really like his power play chances tonight as the pens have the best power play unit in the league at home this year.  Tonight could be a night that the double center stack of Crosby and Evgeni Malkin could be fantasy greatness.

Eric Staal – MIN @ DAL – $6,600 Stall is clipping away with just shy of a point per game production this year.  He looks like he is in a  little bit of a funk here the last five games or so, but there is a nice cure for that know as the Dallas Stars.  The Stars have been the most generous team in the league and the past month has proved it as they are giving the most goals up per game at 3.8GAA.  Dallas has had a hell of a time killing penalties this month too as they have only stopped 63.9% of their shorthanded chances this month.  I’m expecting the Wild to be all over the Stars tonight and I think I’m looking to the Staal line.

Patrice Bergeron – BOS vs DET – $6,600 Bergeron Is still too cheap on DraftKings in my opinion.  He is ranked fourth in the NHL with 3.70 shots on net per game, but his shooting percentage is down this year at 5.7% so it should normalize back up to his career average of 10%.  Boston has the best Corsi in the league and they are a very strong possession team, they just have some inconsistent moments and they play games where they forget to show up at times.  Detroit is a weaker possession team and they have really inconsistent goalies, and with the Bruins at home tonight I think they can put a handful on the scoreboard tonight.

Ryan Johansen – NSH vs BUF – $5,200 Johansen has put two solid games together with five points playing on that powerful top line for the Preds.  He is also facilitating on the top power play unit, and although he only has one point in his last ten on the man advantage he has a good spot tonight.  Buffalo is giving up 33.1 shots on net per game and their penalty kill is horrible with only a 77% kill rate.  I like Johansen chances to keep his two game point streak going tonight.

WINGERS   Cam Atkinson – CBJ @ NYI – $7,300 Atkinson had a little two game drought but ended that with two goals last  game.  Atkinson lis to shoot the puck early and often and if he can get away from the Tavares line tonight he will have all plus matchups.  The Isles have been playing a little better lately but with the Blue Jackets fire power, I see no way that they can keep up.  If you need to save a little salary you can look to Captain Nick Foligno for some saving, and he also sees top power play minutes.

Connor Sheary – PIT VS STL – $5,800 Sheary has been in fire lately with nine points in his last four game, and three of them have been multiple point nights.  The Blues struggle mightily on the road and Sheary playing alongside arguably the best center in the league makes for a  great play tonight. The Pens offense has been clicking and if they don’t put up a handful tonight at home I would be surprised.

Nino Niederreiter – MIN @ DAL – $5,000 El Niño has six points in his last five games with a multi point effort in one of them.  He’s playing some solid hockey and he is getting better chances now that he is playing on the top line alongside Eric Staal and Charley Coyle.  His shot volume has been pretty consistent as of late and he has a solid matchup tonight against a struggling Dallas team.  Nino also gets time in the second power play unit and Dallas is the worst team in the league in the penalty kill lately.  Save a couple bucks and get yourself some El Niño.

Andre Burakovsky – WSH @ OTT – $3,700 Burakovsky is sizzling tight now with eight points in his last four games, and three of them games have been multi point efforts.  He is seeing the ice very well and he has great offensive presence.  The Caps have been pouring goals in the net and even though the matchup on paper doesn’t look great, I still want some Caps because half the team is dealing with illness.  Burakovsky gets all the depth matchups playing on the third line and he’s making the most of his chances.  His shot volume has been up and he is also seeing power play time on the second unit where he has two tallies in his last five games. He makes for a solid value play tonight.

Miles Wood – NJD vs LA – $3,400 Wood makes for a gpp play tonight with his low salary, but has a tough matchup.  He saves you a lot of cap space tonight to get your studs in.  Wood also gets time on the top power play unit.  The kings have  great puck possession numbers but their goaltending is inconsistent, and their defenseman make mistakes ending up in goals.  You could do a lot worse than throwing a dart on Wood tonight.

DEFENSEMAN

Justin Schultz – PIT vs STL – $5,300 With Letang still out Schultz is making the most of his opportunities as he is the top blue liner for the Pens.  Schultz is averaging about 22 minutes of ice time, and he has top power play duties.  Schultz has a great offensive presence as a defenseman and it shows with his 11 points in his last ten games.  Schultz is also averaging 2.3 blocks per game over his last ten which adds to his floor. He makes for a great play tonight for the offensive juggernaut Penguins.  If your looking to save a little cap or you are playing other lines you can look to Trevor Daley also.

Matt Niskanen – WSH @ OTT – $4,800 Niskanen has seen a price bump but his production warrants it.  Since John Carlson went down with a lower body injury, Niskanen has taken full advantage.  He has stepped up and is manning the point on the extra man advantage where the Caps have been the second best power play unit in hockey in January.

Ryan Ellis – NSH vs BUF – $4,500 Ellis has had a boost in production and seems to have found a nice groove on the blue line for the Preds.  Ellis has five points in his last three games and two of them have been multi point games.  Ellis logs huge minutes on the point and he also plays on the second power play unit.  Ellis has had five games straight now with at least three shots on net and a block.  Buffalo still ranks dead last in the league on the penalty kill with a 74.1% kill rate.

Nathan Beaulieu – MTL vs CGY – $4,100 Beaulieu is a solid play for his price and his production.  His shot volume has been down but tonight he should have plenty of opportunity playing against the Flames who are on the hind end of a back to back and also playing their third game in four nights.  Beaulieu is still manning the point on the top power play unit for the Habs and he also can give you a couple blocked shots.  If you have the salary to go up to Shea Weber then by all means play him but if you don’t, Beaulieu is my guy.  He makes for a nice stack with Max Pacioretty.

GOALIES

Matt Murray – PIT vs STL – $8,100 Murray has been exceptionally good at home with a 10-0-1 record and he has a 2.32 GAA and a .930 save %.  Murray should see plenty of shots on net tonight from the Blues, and if the Penguins can play a disciplined game and not take penalties, he should have a good night. I like his chances for the win at home.   Juuse Saros – NSH vs BUF – $8,000 Saros has played great between the pipes for the Preds.  He is sporting a 1.48 GAA and a .952 save % at the Bridgestone Arena this year.  Since being called up he has shown he has what it takes to be good in the NHL and he should get enough offense tonight so lead him to victory.
