NHL Power Plays – 12/06/16

Welcome to the Tuesday night NHL slate, we have nine games on tap tonight.  It seems the ugly injury bug has made its way around the league once again, creating some nice matchups for us tonight.  Also, rest is another big thing to keep an eye out for on this slate.  I’m not saying base your play on it, but sometimes it is a good indication that if a team is tired, their play reduces quality and also penalties can be taken.  We have a nice size slate tonight so let’s see if we can get you over the top to win that GPP, good luck!

Edmonton Oilers

Florida Panthers

Arizona Coyotes

Buffalo Sabres

Philadelphia Flyers

Winnipeg Jets

Chicago Blackhawks

Connor McDavid – EDM vs BUF – $8,400

McDavid has gone pointless for two games now, and should go under owned tonight against Buffalo.  In the last two games McDavid still had four shots on net each game and barely missed a chance last game.  Buffalo is allowing just over 32 shots on net per game which ranks fourth worst in the league.  Buffalo is also the worst team in the league in November on the penalty kill, only killin 73.3% of their penalties.

Brian Little – WPG vs DET – $5,400

Little got a nice bump to the top line when Mark Scheifele went down with an injury, and he has been taking every advantage he can, while also playing on the top power play line.  Little has a three game point streak going with one of them being a multi point night.  Playing between Nikolaj Ehlers – $5,400 and Patrick Laine – $7,400. Little will get more opportunities and open ice to tally points.  The Red Wings are a bottom five team in possession with a Corsi rating of 46.5 CF%.  The Wings also don’t take a ton of penalties but when they do, they have a bottom ten penalty kill with an 81.3% kill rate.

Claude Giroux – PHI vs FLA – $7,100

Giroux has had a roller coaster season this year so far, but tonight he has a decent matchup against a Florida team that has been bitten by the injury bug.   The Panthers will be without Two of their top players Jonathan Marchessault, and Keith Yandle tonight.  Florida likes to grind the game down and limit chances, but I think Philly is going to be taking the action to the Panthers tonight.  Philly is ranked  fourth in goals per game at 3.11, and their top power play unit is lethal at 23.7%, ranked second.  If you want to save a little salary, you can look down to the second line with Brayden Schenn – $5,400, which I don’t mind tonight as a one off.

Artem Anisimov – CHI vs ARI – $6,500

Anisimov and the Hawks take on the worst defensive team tonight in the Coyotes, who are playing their second game of road back to back games.  This game could get out of hand tonight unless Mike Smith has another massive outing.  Arizona is giving up north of 35 shots per night, and their defense isn’t helping either.  The top line of the Hawks has massive upside tonight, but they could also carry massive ownership.  Anisimov paired up with Artemi Panerin – $7,100 makes for a good play tonight.

Tyler Seguin – DAL vs COL – $7,800

Seguin is quietly running on a four game point streak and has been playing great, despite his team being pretty bad. Calgary is the single most penalized team in the NHL to date, and they are the fourth worst team killing penalties with only a 77.9% kill rate.  That is a recipe for disaster when facing elite snipers like Seguin, Jamie Benn – $7,000 and John Klingberg – $4,700

Artemi Panerin – CHI vs ARI – $7,100

Panerin is hot, he has two goals in his last two games.  Tonight is a beautiful spot for him against the putrid defense of the Coyotes.  Arizona doesn’t take a ton of penalties, but when they do, they have a rough time killing them off with a 80.8% kill rate which is bottom ten in the league.  Not to mention, Arizona is giving up the most shots on net per game, and the second most goals allowed per game!  sign me up for some Panarin.

Chris Kreider – NYR vs NYI – $6,000

Kreider is coming off a two goal game against the Hurricanes, who make for a tougher matchup than tonight against the Isles.  The islanders are a poor possession team just like the Rangers, but they lack scoring depth, unlike the Rangers.  The rangers shouldn’t have too much of an issue taking care of the Isles tonight and I think they can put a good number up on the board, just like the last time these teams faced off.  Kreider is a great pair with Derek Stepan – $6,400 and Ryan McDonagh – $5,500.

Mike Cammalleri – NJ vs VAN – 5,500

Cammalleri is still hot since coming back from his six game leave of absence.  He has 11 points in his last six games!  He also gets a great matchup tonight against the Canucks who don’t like to score much, and the top line of the Sedin sisters should be shadowing the Taylor Hall line.  I like Cammalleri tonight, and I think he keeps his hot streak rolling. I like pairing Cammalleri with Travis Zajac – $5,200 for the low cost and good upside tonight.

Dustin Byfuglien – WPG vs DET – $6,000

Byfuglien now has points in four games straight, with six points in his last seven games.  He is starting to come to life and he is shooting the puck more.  Detroit is a poor possession team that ranks 26th out of 30 with a 46.5CF%.  Winnipeg has been rolling lately and they haven’t had any trouble scoring goals, especially without one of their main players Mark Scheifele.  I like BIG BUFF tonight.

Aaron Ekblad – FLA vs PHI – $4,800

Ekblad has been shooting the puck at an alarming clip this year, and now that the Panthers are without two of their top players, he will be looked to shoot even more.  The Flyers score a ton but they also give up a ton of goals too, 3.07 per contest on average.  I think the Panthers are going through a massively rough time right now but it still doesn’t deter me from using Ekblad on the point, with all the production he brings to the table.

John Klingberg – DAL vs CGY – $4,700

Klingbergs price keeps dropping and it’s the lowest it has been this year.  He is having an off year that’s for sure, but he can still shoot the puck a ton and has multi point upside any night of the week.  I have no problem paying for Klingberg tonight against the Flames, who are horrible on the road.  The flames love to take penalties, and they cant kill them either. Klingberg plays on the top power play unit and is in a good spot tonight.

Dougie Hamilton – CGY vs DAL – $5,300

The flames are in a tough spot tonight against the Stars on the road, but Hamilton has actually played better on the road DFS wise in shots on net.  He is averaging almost three shots on net per game, which is a good floor.  Not only that but Dallas gives the most goals up per game this year, giving up 3.27 per game.  I’ll take the $800 price savings all day from Mark Giordano, who has one goal less on the year.

Damon Severson – NJ vs VAN – $4,200

Severson is in a good spot tonight against the Canucks who give up a just shy of three goals per game.  He plays on the top power play unit and he is averaging about two blocks per game to go along with his couple shots. He saves you some salary tonight to get your big names in your lineup.

Scott Darling – CHI vs ARI – $8,200

Darling faces the Coyotes tonight on their back to back road games and he should be a big favorite to get the W at home.  He has been playing good with a 2.71 GAA and .912 SV% in nine games this season.  He is a lock for all types of play not just GPP for me.

Steve Mason – PHI vs FLA – $7,800

The Panthers played last night and Luango was in net, I expect Reimer to be in net for the Panthers tonight, and if that’s the case, the Flyers should be able to get the W tonight.  Mason has been phenomenal lately seeing the puck everywhere.  In his last four games he has posted a 1.71 GAA and a .945 save %.

Corey Schneider – NJ vs VAN – 8,000

Schneider has been pretty bad on the road this year but at home he has been solid.  He takes on the Canucks tonight at home in a plus matchup where he should get the win in my opinion. At home Schneider is 7-0-1 with a 2.31 GAA and .920 SV%.
