NHL Power Plays 11/22/16

Tonight we have a smaller five game slate, and they are tough to peg because of ownership and also matchups.  In GPP’s you will want to stay away from the masses, and you are going to have to be creative tonight.  Ownership for Toronto,  and Anaheim will be pretty high tonight.  The Florida Panthers are the only team not playing rested, which they are playing their third game in pretty much three and a half days because of start times.  Let’s see if we can get you some players that the masses won’t be on tonight to shoot you up the leaderboard.  Good luck tonight!

Victor Rask – CAR vs TOR – $5,900

Rask has been playing some great hockey lately, with five points in his last five games.  He plays on the top powerplay also.  Toronto is giving up 33.6 shots per game, which is the second worst in the league.  The Leafs are also a poor defensive team as they rank 29th in team defense. They play a fast game, but they also give a ton of shots up also.

Alex Galchenyuk – MON vs OTT – $7,100

Galchenyuk has seen a lot of changes in his linemates, and he consistently finds a way to get on the score sheet.  He plays better at home as 15 of his 19 points have all came from his home ice. Ottowa is in the bottom ten for shots allowed on net per game, giving up 31.2 per.  Galchenyuk also plays on the top power play for the Habs,  and they are the fifth best PP team in the league with a 22.8 conversion rate.

Ryan Kesler – ANH vs NYI – $6,100

The New York Islanders are a horrible possession team with a poor 46.5 CF% rating, that’s third worst in the league.  Kesler has a laser shot and he also likes to get dirty in the crease to get them gritty goals.  He gets to join elite snipers Corey Perry – W- $7,200 and Ryan Getzlaf – C – $6,600 on the top power play line and Kesler has seven power play points.  Look for Kesler to notch another point tonight.

Teuvo Teravainen – CAR vs TOR – $3,900

Teuvo has six points in his last four games playing alongside Victor Rask on the second line for the Canes.  He also sees time on the second unit for the power play.  Teuvo can save you some salary tonight and still give you that upside against Toronto. I don’t minds stacking him with Rask tonight with all the ownership going to Toronto.

Jonathan Marchessault – FLA vs PHI -$5,800

Philadelphia is still giving up the most amount of goals per game of any team, giving up almost three and a half per game.  The Panthers will be getting back Nick Bjugstad tonight and I usually stay away from players coming back from injury their first couple games until they get adapted. The Marchessault line should have a plus matchup tonight and I like their chances to get on the scoreboard.

Mitchell Marner –  TOR vs CAR – $6,300

Marner has had a phenomenal rookie year so far in the shadows of their number one pick Austin Matthews.  He has great linemates that help open the ice up and allows for a lot of shots on net.  Marner is averaging three shots per game and his shooting % is almost 17%, which will regress a little but that shows you that when he has the opportunity to score he makes the most of them.  Carolina has the best penalty kill in the league this year at 91.1% and I’m not looking to take a lot of Leafs tonight because of ownership percentages, but I don’t mind a one off of Marner.

Jakob Silfverberg –  ANH vs NYI –  $5,400

Silfverberg is having a good year since far with the Ducks, he has 13 points in 19 game.  He is third on the team with an individual Corsi rating if 54 and an average point per 60 of 1.87 which also ranks third on the team.  He also means the second power play for the Ducks. The islanders are a horrible possession team and Silfverberg makes for a great matchup against them tonight.

Shae Weber – MON vs OTT – $7,100

If you are looking to spend up on defense tonight, I think I’m rolling Weber out.  He logs massive ice time, takes about four shots per game, and doesn’t hesitate to block a lot of shots.  Ottawa’s defense has been on the decline and I fully expect the Habs to get a couple tonight.  With Weber running the point on the top power play also he makes for a good contrarian play tonight.

Morgan Rielly – TOR vs CAR – $4,800

Reilly has five points in his last five games and seems to have gotten a little more productive and plays on  the second power play also.  Rielly is also averaging over a block per game, and we need some value tonight to grab the studs.  He is logging a good amount of minutes on the ice at almost 23 per game.  Toronto shoots a ton and hopefully tonight Reilly can get a helper or two for you.

Radko Gudas – PHI vs FLA – $4,000

Gudas is an interesting player to watch, he plays a hard nosed old school style of hockey, and isn’t afraid to use his body to block shots or but a body on guys.  He is averaging over three blocks a game, and has seven points in his 13 games this year.  Florida is going to be slinging rubber on net tonight and if Gudas can have one of his big block nights, he will pay off handsomely.

Roberto Luongo – FLA vs PHI – $7,700

Luongo at home has almost been as good as Carey Price this year with 1.85 and a .930 save %.  I think he will face more shots than Price tonight against the Flyers, and he should be able to get the W, which is most important.

Carey Price – MON vs OTT – $8,400

Price at home this year has been insanely good with a 1.54 Goals against and a .953 save %.  He should face a decent amount of shots tonight and should be able to get the W also.  Price has a huge win probability and will probably have a higher ownership % tonight than Luango but both are great plays.

Kesler – Silfverberg – Cogliano

Van Reimsdyk – Bozak – Marner

Nylander – Matthews – Gardiner

Galchenyuk – Radulov – Weber

Skinner – Rask – Faulk

Giroux – Schenn – Voracek
