NBA Thoughts – 3/10/17

It’s a big Friday Night slate in the NBA with huge tournaments all across the industry. Let’s dive right into a few of my favorite plays. Make sure to tune into the Deeper Dive at 5 EST and the Lineup Builder show at 6 EST for more analysis.

Dirk Nowitzki, $6100

Dirk is finally healthy and has come on strong over the last few weeks. Most impressive has been his work on the boards, with double-digit rebounds in four of the five past games. The Nets are one of the worst rebounding teams in the league and Dirk has an opportunity to make it five of six. He’s hit for over 40 fantasy points in the last two and has a strong matchup with the Nets tonight. The Mavs are running a lot of offense through Dirk and, with Brook Lopez out, he should have his way with whoever they put on him tonight. There is some blow-out risk here, but I feel good about Dirk’s chances of seeing 25-30 minutes regardless.

Andrew Wiggins, $7400

Wiggins has had three straight tough matchups which has limited his fantasy output and lowered his price. It wasn’t that long ago that he was a near-lock for forty fantasy points, with fifty point upside. Now is a great time to buy low on Wiggins, especially at home against a struggling Warriors team devoid of Kevin Durant. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Wiggins return to form and to eclipse the forty fantasy point mark against one of the highest-paced teams in the league.

Dwyane Wade, $6800

Something tells me that if Wade had really wanted to, he could have fought through his injury and played in Chicago’s last two road games against Orlando and Detroit. Instead, he’s very well rested for a home battle against James Harden and the Rockets. Wade can still turn it on when he wants to, and with fresh legs and a challenge, I expect him to be in top form tonight. Vegas has this game as the highest-scoring of the night, and Wade should be good for 34-35 minutes and nice upside. The price is right on Wade and we should look to take advantage in a favorable situation.
