NBA Thoughts 12/26/16 (Premium)

I hope everyone had a great Christmas weekend and top DFS scores to go along with it. Today we’re back with a stacked 11-game slate to kick off the week. From the looks of it, we have plenty of value building up which could be more if we get some news out of Cleveland. With that being said, ‘stars and scrubs’ looks like a viable strategy if you’re looking to build some immense upside. Let’s dive into the slate and see what we got!

Lineup Construction

Value galore! It seems like a night where we can fit in our favorites studs, whether it be Harden, Cousins, or Davis, and plug in the obvious value in the weaker spots. It also helps that Felton is being listed as a SG and some of the other cheap options are at positions that aren’t stacked today. Lineups seem to be making themselves tonight, which could mean good things to come, or an epic collapse of d00m! Let’s see what happened on Tuesday of last week when we had a similar 11-game slate.

Ooolala! Ty Lawson and Alexis Ajinca are both under $4,000, cool! I also see that James Johnson and J.J. Redick are sitting barely over $4,000, cool! Lillard, Cousins and LBJ all belonged to a top-tier that was full of prime matchups. This, ladies and gentlemen, is your classic case of ‘stars and scrubs’. This seemed like a perfect tournament lineup, not only because he won the Triple Threat for a smooth $50,000, but because he created tons of upside with plays that made sense.

On bigger slates, scores of 350+ are needed to take down large-field tournaments and using a ‘stars and scrubs’ lineup to create upside is the best possible way to do it. Tonight, we have enough value where this type of lineup is possible in many different ways. On to the plays!

Guys that make it happen

The top-tier is one where you can’t go wrong today. I’m looking at guys like James Harden, John Wall, and DeMarcus Cousins as the guys I want to pay for. Remember, the MORE ‘stars and scrubs’ you go, the higher your upside will be. If we could get two studs as a minimum into our lineups, we could generate enough upside to take down some serious money. These are the cheapies that are letting me do this.

This list doesn’t assume any Cleveland news, so we could have more value opening up as the day progresses. Most of these guys are in injury situations one way or another and are in line for increased minutes and/or usage. I’ll confirm most of these plays on the ‘Deeper Dive’ later today and voice my opinion on the news that breaks.
