NBA Lineup Construction 1/20/17

NBA Thoughts

Happy Friday and welcome to NBA Thoughts! Today I’ll discuss the game of the year so far from a DFS perspective as the Warriors play the Rockets in Houston.

Warriors @ Rockets

This barnburner of a game features two fast-paced high powered offenses that like to play in space and in transition. The total opened at 236 and as of this writing is at 239.5, the highest total of the season and perhaps the highest total in NBA history. Golden State is installed as 5.5 point favorites in Houston, and we can have a pretty good idea where the minutes and production is going to come on both sides of the ball. While I am a contrarian player by nature and certainly everyone and their mother will be attempting to stack this game, it is a very difficult one to get away from.

Despite shooting just 8-23 from the field and 2-11 from downtown, James Harden dropped a whopping 75.3 fantasy points on the Warriors the last time these two teams faced off (albeit in two OTs). Eric Gordon and Montrezl Harrell also had big performances, and on the Warriors’ side of the ball, it was Kevin Durant and Draymond Green who had the biggest games, posting 73.5 and 57.8 fantasy points, respectively. Andre Igoudala played 41 minutes off the bench (31 before the overtimes) as he is perhaps the Warriors’ best chance to slow down the Beard. Igoudala is very cheap and though he lacks some upside, he should pay big minutes here and is very much in play.

James Harden, of course, is the biggest lock in this game and is going to be a tremendously popular play tonight. His price did not rise much for this game and it is very difficult to imagine a scenario where he disappoints. While there are other premium options to pay up for (my personal favorite being Anthony Davis, at home against the Nets) Harden is clearly the premier play of the day and should be treated as such. I also am very high on Patrick Beverley, Eric Gordon, and Trevor Ariza from the Rockets side of the ball.

Enjoy the game and your weekend, and be sure to tune into the Deeper Dive at 5pm EST for more thoughts and analysis. #LetsGetIt
