NBA Bargains 2/5/17

Happy Sunday! Yeah, yeah, the Super Bowl, but there is plenty of $$$ out there and three games, starting at noon to prime the sports pump before that NFL stuff. Let us look at the slate and find the bargain plays that make our lineups hit the top of the standings. . I am going to keep these under the $5,000 line for FanDuel (FD) and/or DraftKings (DK) and $10,000 on FantasyDraft (FDRA).

Point Guard

Cory Joseph – TOR at BKN – Kyle Lowry is ill and questionable. If Lowry misses, Joseph will start in his place. The last time Lowry missed, DeRozan played and Joseph played 37 minutes, had 29.3% raw usage and scored 42+ FD points. He is min priced on FanDuel, $3,200 on DraftKings and $6,300 on FDraft. If Lowry is out against the woeful Nets, lock Joseph in quickly.

Raymond Felton – LAC at BOS – He will play minutes, as he has logged 30.23 and 33.37 the last two games. The Celtics do not play real big, so the three guard triumvirate of Felton, JJ Redick and Austin Rivers should hold up here and give Felton pathway to those mid 30s minutes and you do want exposure to anyone in that minutes range, because the game is a healthy 222 game total.

Shooting Guards

JJ Redick – LAC at BOS – Speaking of Redick, he has been getting the low 30s minutes and over 20% raw usage, resulting in a solid spree of high 20s fantasy points. Avery Bradley is questionable, so Redick will likely still be able to run off screens and has been doing better without Chris Paul during this stretch than in seasons past.

Norman Powell – TOR at BKN – FD only play here, and only if DeRozan misses one more game (listed as questionable as of this writing), as Powell is listed as $4,900, meaning you will want 30 FD points from him in tourneys, something he has already shown capable of doing when DeRozan is out.

Small Forwards

Evan Turner – POR at OKC – Even thinner than usual at small forward for Bargains, but Turner at least is logging 30+ minutes a night for the Trail Blazers. Turner’s price is a reasonable $4,900 on FanDuel and $5,000 on DraftKings and he has posted two 34+ DK point games in his last three games.

Bojan Bogdanovic – BKN vs. TOR – Bojan got a day of rest, which is what every role player who gets twentysomething minutes per game needs, but is good to go Sunday. Bojan gets mid 20% raw usage when on the floor and the Nets will need his shooting to stay with the Raptors, even at home.

Power Forwards

Al-Farouq Amuni – POR at OKC – Minutes, minutes, minutes. Aminu may be the only player that Terry Stotts can rely on for defense without completing abandoning the offensive side of the equation. Aminu’s last four games have resulted in 32, 32, 28 and 37 minutes played.

Lucas Nogueira – TOR at BKN – Blowout? He will play. Patrick Patterson out? He will play. Jonas Valanciunas in foul trouble? Bebe will play. He is getting mid-20s minutes regularly and turning in fantasy point per minute type performances, despite his lack of offensive playmaking skill. He is only PF eligible on DraftKings, but qualifies as a F/C on Fantasy Draft.

Joffrey Lauvergne – OKC vs. POR – Not much at center so far, value wise, especially when I am pulling Lucas out to plug into power forwards. Lauvergne may be asked to play more in case Sabonis is still struggling and Portland a smaller lineup with Aminu at the four. He is nearly min priced and did score 29 DK points in 28 minutes, but that was aided by a six for seven shooting game.

Marreese Speights – LAC at BOS – Boston is weak in the frontcourt and we know that Mo Speights loves to shoot the basketball when in the game, meaning he can take advantage. Speights has scored 20.25 and 20.50 DK points in his last two games, in 37 minutes in total .

Good luck, players! – JW

I am a promoter at DraftKings and am also an avid fan and user (my username is jaywalker72) and may sometimes play on my personal account in the games that I offer advice on. Although I have expressed my personal view on the games and strategies above, they do not necessarily reflect the view(s) of DraftKings and I may also deploy different players and strategies than what I recommend above.
