NBA Bargains 2/10/17
Happy Friday! Let us look at the games from this nice nine-game slate and find the bargain plays that make our lineups hit the top of the standings. I am targeting below 10K on Fantasy Draft, 5K on FanDuel and 5.5K on DraftKings. LET’S DO THIS!
NOTE: Stay tuned to FanVice for updates and analysis of the breaking news in regards to the values that open up throughout the evening leading up to lineup lock. Tune into the Deeper Dive with Loughy, DraftCheat and Manny Lora today and The Final Countdown with Fast Eddie Fear and Your Ol’ Pal EMac leading you up until lock.
Darren Collison – SAC vs. ATL – $5,200 (FD), $5,400 (DK), $10,600 (FDRAFT) – Collison must be considered tonight because of three things: 1. Ty Lawson is doubtful with his injured hamstring. 2. Boogie Cousins is back and Collison is positively correlated with Boogie. 3. Collison has averaged 91.2 touches in the last five games. That is more than Isaiah Thomas, Blake Griffin, Kyrie Irving, etc. Cousins and Collison are the Kings offense right now, and they are playing big minutes with lots o’ opportunity to score fantasy points. Oh, and Dennis Schröder has a 114.7 defensive rating over that span. Giddy-up!
Jameer Nelson – DEN at NYK – $4,400 (FD), $4,400 (DK), $8,800 (FDRAFT) – If Will Barton starts again, there is more risk, because Barton is a ball hog. However, 30+ minutes at the point against Derrick Rose, who has a 119 defensive rating over his last five games and a 228 game total makes me want some Nelson tonight. Maybe more cash game that tourney, however.
Tony Allen – MEM vs. GSW – $4,500 (FD), $4,400 (DK), $8,700 (FDRAFT) – Chandler Parsons is out tonight, which boosts his minutes, and the game against the Warriors likely necessitates a heavy presence from Allen, due to his defensive reputation. Allen scored 43 DK points in 47 minutes in the game against the Warriors (1/6, at GS) and he has scored 26 and 27.25 his last two games despite lower minutes (21 and 29).
Gary Harris – DEN at NYK – $5,100 (FD), $5,000 (DK), $9,800 (FDRAFT) – Again, despite Will Barton’s shot-a-thon the last two games, Harris was able to manage some raw usage, too, getting over 20% last game out. Courtney Lee’s defense has been as bad as Rose, at 119 defensive rating. Lot of points and possessions to go around here, Harris is a solid cash game play.
Michael Beasley – MIL vs. LAL – $4,400 (FD), $3,900 (DK), $7,700 (FDRAFT) – He is a usage monster and will get a bump in minutes due to Jabari Parker being lost for the season. This does not mean he will get 30 minutes, though, as Mirza Teletovic and Khris Middleton will soak up some of those minutes, but the BeasMaster will get his and against a Lakers defense that has been ho-hum and plays very fast, it suits Beasley’s more, um, open style of play.
T.J. Warren – PHX vs. CHI – $4,500 (FD), $4,800 (DK), $9,500 (FDRAFT) – Warren had a bad game last time out, but the Suns may have to considering using Warren a lot in the offense if Butler and Wade are assigned to Bledsoe and Booker, funneling the offense to the other 20%+ usage guy on the team, Warren.
Mirza Teletovic – MIL vs. LAL – $4,100 (FD-SF), $3,000 (DK), $6,000 (FDRAFT) – The rock bottom minimum on DK/FDRAFT, Teletovic is worth a tourney flyer since there is no guarantee about his playing time in relief of Jabari Parker. However, if he is named the starter, he goes into cash game consideration as well.
Gorgui Dieng – MIN vs. NOP – $5,500 (FD), $5,000 (DK), $9,800 (FDRAFT) – 30+ minutes against the fifth worst defense over the last five games, Dieng will be asked to be on the court to defend Anthony Davis, securing his minutes, and should collect the peripherals he needs to make value here.
Kyle O’Quinn – NYK vs. DEN – $4,200 (FD), $4,600 (DK), $9,100 (FDRAFT) – Joakim Noah is out, so that is good for KOQ’s minutes. His defense is sooooo bad (134 defensive rating over last five games) that he can hardly be left on the court, but we all know he piles up the fantasy points when on there, with a 1.20 FanDuel point per minute rate. There is a possibility that Kristaps Porzingis is assigned to Nikola Jokic, which would leave O’Quinn waving at Wilson Chandler or, more hopefully, on Darrell Arthur, but it is reasonable enough price wise to look at him in this high scoring, high paced, matchup.
Greg Monroe – MIL vs. LAL – $5,800 (FD), $5,100 (DK), $10,100 (FDRAFT) – With Parker out, it is reasonable to assume that Monroe will be asked to absorb the scoring role Parker had inside, and should lead to a few extra minutes on the court, with his typical mid 20s% usage rate. A 30-34 fantasy point game is completely in range in this matchup.
Good luck, players! – JW
I am a promoter at DraftKings and am also an avid fan and user (my username is jaywalker72) and may sometimes play on my personal account in the games that I offer advice on. Although I have expressed my personal view on the games and strategies above, they do not necessarily reflect the view(s) of DraftKings and I may also deploy different players and strategies than what I recommend above.
