NBA Bargains 1/30/17
Happy Monday! Let us look at the games from this interesting six-game slate and find the bargain plays that make our lineups hit the top of the standings. I am going to keep these under the $5,000 line for FanDuel (FD) and DraftKings (DK). Let’s go!
NOTE: Stay tuned to FanVice for updates and analysis of the breaking news in regards to the values that open up throughout the evening leading up to lineup lock. Watch FanVice Live tonight at 530 ET with DraftCheat and Adam and then 630 ET with yours truly and Fast Eddie Fear on The Final Countdown.
Yogi Ferrell – DAL vs. CLE – He is minimum priced on FanDuel and he has to get a look here after a solid first game as a Maverick. If he starts, he should get 30 minutes, which will put him in the 24-26 FD point range, just fine for all formats.
Tyler Johnson – MIA vs. BKN – Ira Winderman of the Miami Herald believes that Johnson, who is currently listed as questionable, will be back tonight in this matchup. Hard to know how the minutes will be split, but since the Nets do not have a large supply of big wings due to injury, it looks like Tyler will get his usual 28-30 minutes against the second worst defense in the league this season and dead last over the last 10 games.
Seth Curry – DAL vs. CLE – With Deron Williams out again tonight, you can expect that Curry, who went off Sunday for 43.50 FD points, will be very popular and chalky here, making him a good play in cash, but fadable in tournament action.
Arron Afflalo – SAC at PHI – 6PM GAME – On the other hand, a very risky play would be Afflalo, near min priced across the industry and getting 40, 34 and 31 minutes over the last three games. The Kings are two point favorites in Philly tonight, with a solid 205 game total.
P.J. Tucker – PHX vs. MEM – Taking the minutes here, because as of now there is little value, so we grab onto the blanket of solid, stable minutes that Tucker can provide. Even though the game is against a toucher Memphis team, Tucker does derive a lot of his fantasy value from his peripherals, making him less dependent on scoring against the Grizzlies to make him a good play tonight.
Anthony Tolliver – SAC at PHI – 6PM GAME – Tolliver continues to get solid minutes, including 30 in his last time out against Charlotte, where he also dropped 35 DK points. His price is $3,300 on DK, where you can roster him at small forward. Should the Kings go smaller against the Sixers tonight, Tolliver could start and see even more minutes here.
Channing Frye – CLE at DAL – LeBron James is playing and Kevin Love is not. Translation: The coast is clear to roster Channing Frye tonight at his very low salary ($3,400 on DK, $3,800 on FD). His raw usage is around 18-19% in this situation and has averaged a fantasy point per minute with Love out for the game and James playing.
Nerlens Noel – PHI vs. SAC – 6PM GAME – If Embiid (questionable) sits again tonight, then Noel can certainly hit value against on FanDuel at his still too-low $4,700 salary. Noel scored 32.20 Sunday against Chicago in 24 minutes. Noel himself may rest, so check the shows later for more, but if he is in, rock and roll him against the Kings.
Kelly Olynyk – BOS vs. DET – Should Al Horford miss again, and his history has always suggested more caution in returning than less, Olynyk will be a matchup problem for the Pistons with his ability to stretch the floor. Kelly O played 35 minutes at MIL Saturday Night and scored 32.25 DK points and 30.90 points on FD, good value for his $4,100 price tag on FD and ok value on $4,400 on DK.
Tristan Thompson – CLE at DAL – Reasonably priced and minutes locked in, Thompson will not have any trouble corralling rebounds from an injury depleted Mavericks front court. Thompson is coming off a stellar 50-burger against the Thunder on DK, but you should not expect another 15 shots from Thompson. But the double-double value is there and his price is below 5K on both FD/DK tonight.
Good luck, players! – JW
