NBA Bargains 1/23/17
With NFL play winding down and the Super Bowl two weeks away, the NBA has rolled out a more robust schedule as they expand into the televised sports void. Tonight we have a nine game set and a solid four game late slate for our gaming pleasure on the larger DFS sites.
As always, more information will be released by the teams closer to tip-off, but this should give us plenty of discounted options to work with in the meantime. Don’t forget to tune in for the FinalCountdown on FanVice Live tonight for all of your last minute news and advice until the first tipoff.
If you have any questions you can reach me on Twitter @EmacDFS or in the FanVice.com premium Slack channel.
Patty Mills and Dejounte Murray – SAS at BKN – Both of these guards are going to be popular options tonight in a phenomenal matchup in Brooklyn against the defenseless Nets. Murray is a rookie from the University of Washington and he should draw the starting assignment in the absence of Tony Parker. Mills will see plenty of playing time as well and will likely be running the offense in the fourth quarter or at any point when the game is close (while this should not be an issue tonight, it is something for us to keep in mind while Parker is on the shelf).
Austin Rivers and Raymond Felton – LAC at ATL – With Chris Paul out of action for the next month, this duo should see all the minutes they can handle running the offense for the Clippers. On tap tonight is a fine matchup against the Hawks in Atlanta and we have seen Dennis Schroder struggle on defense in his first season as the full-time floor general for the Hawks.
Danny Green – SAS at BKN – I am speculating that this will be a game where Coach Gregg Popovich limits or even outright rests some of his veterans like Manu Ginobili. This will open up extended run for Danny Green in a tremendous scoring environment.
Garrett Temple – SAC at DET – With Rudy Gay out for the season, it looks like the Kings will be turning to Temple to step into the starting lineup as they run more three guard sets with their “twin towers” in the frontcourt. Temple’s upside is all dependent on whether or not his shot is falling, but he should have a solid fantasy baseline from his hustle/helper stats and 30+ minutes of court time.
Joe Ingles – UTA vs OKC – As long as Rodney Hood is sidelined with his knee injury, Ingles should see an increased role in the Jazz offense. Until his price catches up with his new role, he is a fine option to fill one of our pesky small forward slots.
Sam Dekker – HOU at MIL – While Ryan Anderson should return tonight, he has missed the better part of the week with an illness. This is not the best matchup, however, it is a sneaky one because even if Anderson is in the starting lineup, it would not be a surprise if he plays less minutes than normal as he regains his strength.
David Lee – SAS at BKN – Lee should continue to be the starter while Pau Gasol recovers from his hand injury. This is a tremendous matchup against Brook Lopez who is still dealing with his violent allergies towards rebounding the basketball.
Derrick Favors – UTA vs OKC – It looks like Favors is going to have a minutes cap of around 25-27 minutes whether or not it is officially announced, which is definitely less than the 31-34 we have become accustomed to over the last few seasons. This means we will want to pick our spots when rolling with him, but tonight definitely is a good matchup as the Thunder usually run their offense with two BIGs on the court at the same time.
Cody Zeller – CHA vs WAS – The workload for Marcin Gortat has taken a heavy toll and his defensive effort has really slipped over the last couple weeks. This bodes well for Zeller who should be in the mix for a double double against the Wizards tonight.
Clint Capela – HOU at MIL – Capela is still working his way back from a broken leg, but he should see 20-24 minutes in this matchup against the Bucks and his current price is just too low for his upside potential, even with capped court time.
