NBA Bargains – 12/02/2016

Tonight we have nine games on the main slate tipping off at 7:00pm ET and then it looks like the bigger sites will have short slate contests at 7:30pm, 8:00pm, 8:30pm and 10:30pm.  There is value in the middle tier today, but there are some punt options as well.

As always, more information will be released by the teams closer to tip-off, but this should give us plenty of discounted options to work with in the meantime.

If you have any questions you can reach me on Twitter @EmacDFS or in the premium Slack channel.

Point Guards

Rajon Rondo – CHI vs CLE – Cleveland got worked over at home last night by the Los Angeles Clippers and now they are on the road in Chicago.  Rondo has been contributing across the board in several categories which gives him a nice floor and some big game upside as well in this matchup against Kyrie Irving and his “defense.”  We will want to keep in mind that Dwyane Wade will be in the mix for shots tonight against his former Heat teammate LeBron James, but there should be plenty of other fantasy opportunities available to Rondo on Friday.

Dennis Schroder – ATL vs DET – After being on the road for nearly three weeks, the Hawks finally return home and get to host the Detroit Pistons tonight.  Paul Millsap remains questionable, so Schroeder should see some extra shots if he misses another game.  In Phoenix on Wednesday against the Suns, Schroder went for a career high 31 points on his way to a 46-51 fantasy points outing (site dependent) and over his last three games his minutes continue to trend upwards as he has become more and more comfortable as a starting point guard in the NBA.

Sergio Rodriguez – PHI vs PHI – Jerryd Bayless has been ruled out tonight with his wrist injury so that means Rodriguez will see heavy minutes at the point and have the bonus of feeding Joel Embiid in the paint which should be worth three or four assists.

Shooting Guard

Jamal Crawford – LAC at NOP – Keep an eye on the news to see if anyone from the Clippers is getting rest tonight since that generally gives an added boost to Crawford who gets to run the second unit on nights when other key scorers are out.

Lou Williams – LAL at TOR – Lou Williams is heading north of the border to Toronto tonight with the Lakers to his old stomping grounds.  He continues to see starter’s production off the bench and is usually on the court in the fourth quarter or other crucial situations as it has become clear that PG Jose Calderon is mostly a ceremonial starter and only getting to the mid-teens for minutes.

Small Forward

Jae Crowder – BOS vs SAC – This is a nice matchup for Jae Crowder who is completely healthy after missing a couple weeks in mid-November with a sprained ankle.  He has three straight games with at least thirty fantasy points and should be in line for similar production in this matchup against Rudy Gay and Matt Barnes.

Terrence Ross – TOR vs LAL – Tournaments only, let me repeat that, TOURNAMENTS ONLY!  The Raptors are double digit home favorites against the Lakers who while frisky, really do not have many lock down defenders.  Ross should see a few extra minutes in the rotation if Toronto can get out to an early lead and he will be chucking from the cheap seats anytime he is in the game.  Just know that he has a single digit fantasy point floor.

Kent Bazemore – ATL vs DET – Bazemore has had 30+ fantasy points in two of his last three games, but keep in mind that he got 40 minutes against Phoenix on Wednesday and he was gunning in the Lakers game against his former team on Sunday.  It is encouraging to see him shooting more and actually making his shots, so he is a viable tournament option.

Power Forward

Patrick Patterson – TOR vs LAL – This is a good matchup for Patterson who should get some extra run if Toronto can step on the Lakers tonight.  He had a double double in his last game against Memphis on Wednesday and he has posted 20+ fantasy points in four of his past five, averaging nearly 25 fantasy points during that stretch.

David Lee – SAS vs WAS – The Spurs are double digit favorites at home and we saw David Lee play 20 minutes in Washington on Saturday posting 17 fantasy points against the Wizards.  If any of the San Antonio frontcourt regulars get a night off tonight, he is a prime extreme punt option.

Clint Capela – HOU at DEN – After crushing many hopes and dreams last night by managing just 24 minutes and 17 fantasy points in a double overtime game against the Golden State Warriors.  Get back on the horse tonight, since the Rockets are going to need to count on Capela to bang with all of the many Denver frontcourt options.  He has been averaging just over 30 minutes per game over his last seven outings, so last night was a bit of a break for him and he should be ready to prove his relevance.

Jahlil Okafor – PHI vs ORL – This is supposed to be the first night where Joel Embiid and Okafor join forces together on the court at the same time for extended minutes.  He has posted 22+ fantasy points in four of his last five outings and no longer has a minutes restriction, though he likely won’t play more than 26-28 minutes outside of an overtime scenario.
