Starting Nine 7/22/17
The data displayed will be from the start of this 2017 season. I like displaying this information on one page so I can see which pitchers have the most strikeout opportunities on a given night. We know strikeouts are huge in MLB DFS and looking at this information as lineups come out help me pinpoint which pitchers have the best matchups. With this info in front of us, here are the pitchers I think are in the best spots tonight.
Chris Archer – It looks like this will be a series dominated by pitching as it was in game one. The strikeout match is great today as I’m counting 4-5 hitters who can strikeout multiple times. He’s been dominant at home throughout his career and could be in line for the win here. Everything is lining up perfectly for Archer who comes in at a slight discount from guys like Price and Hill. The 30% strikeout rate against both sides of the plate is pretty impressive and should be on display tonight. I love Archer for all game types tonight.
Danny Salazar – Danny Salazar looked atrocious in his first two rehab outings and then followed them with two stellar outings where he struck out 16 hitters in nine innings. The walks are still there and that can be a problem for him but the Blue Jays rank 20th in walks against righties. At times, the Blue Jays are free swingers and that can work in Salazar’s favor. Before going down to injury, Salazar had a 36% strikeout rate against righties which is amongst the league’s best. He also threw 84 pitches last rehab outing which suggest he should be able to get close to 100 today. Love Salazar at these price levels.
Sean Manaea – First time in a while that I want to roster Manaea. With all the good lefties that make up the dangerous portion of their lineup, Manaea will have the platoon advantage against most of them. Manaea has limited lefties to a .207 wOBA and a .47 ISO while striking them out at 27%. In other words, DOMINANT. Because of this, the Mets will roll out all of their average righties which aren’t imposing to say the least. He will stay in a good pitcher’s park and face a pitcher in the lineup which gives him an extra opportunity at a strikeout. I love Manaea as a tournament option considering the upside he has in this matchup.
