Starting Nine 6/29/17
The data displayed will be from the start of this 2017 season. I like displaying this information on one page so I can see which pitchers have the most strikeout opportunities on a given night. We know strikeouts are huge in MLB DFS and looking at this information as lineups come out help me pinpoint which pitchers have the best matchups. With this info in front of us, here are the pitchers I think are in the best spots tonight.
Clayton Kershaw – When there’s enough cheap hitters on the slate and Kershaw is on the mound, load him up! The matchup might not be the greatest, but this was a low scoring series at Dodgers Stadium and that trend continued yesterday. I consider the Angels the team with the least upside, especially when Trout is on the DL, and now they face the best pitcher in baseball. Kershaw is suitable for all game types even with the below-average strikeout matchup. I’ll take the guaranteed floor and the natural upside he brings even at his price tag.
David Price – I will continue to roster pitchers against the Twins. Porcello for his second start in a row, gave up two runs in his last inning of the outing. It’s plain and simple, this Twins team isn’t hitting right now. It also helps that David Price is $7,700 when he was just $10,100 against the Phillies two starts ago. I love the matchup, I love the potential strikeouts, and I love his chance at a win. Price is my number one point-per-dollar pitcher on the slate and one I feel comfortable rostering. He’s had only one dominant outing this season, but he’s faced the White Sox, Astros, Yankees, and Angels which are all tough matchups. This is a perfect spot for Price to get back on track.
Homer Bailey – Not sure what I’m supposed to write here. Brewers?
