Starting Nine (Late) – 5/4/17
The data displayed will be a combination of 2016 and the start of this 2017 season. I like displaying this information on one page so I can see which pitchers have the most strikeout opportunities on a given night. We know strikeouts are huge in MLB DFS and looking at this information as lineups come out help me pinpoint which pitchers have the best matchups. With this info in front of us, here are the pitchers I think are in the best spots tonight.
Adam Wainwright – We just saw Carlos Martinez dominate this team, going seven strong with no earned runs while picking up the victory. Wainwright can do the same at an even cheaper price tag. Wainwright tends to struggle against lefties, but this lineup is projected to showcase just three lefties. If Wainwright can work his way through Villar, Thames, and Shaw, he should have one of the better point-per-dollar performances on the night. Right-handed hitters haven’t don’t much against Wainwright dating back to last year (.323 wOBA) and this Brewers lineup should have a bunch of below average righties in the lineup including a pitcher.
Dan Straily – I feel Dan Straily is an underrated pitcher dating back to last year when he performed well in Cincinnati. He gets one of the best matchups in Tampa and a favorable pitchers park to pitch in. He’s been pretty good against lefties and has been able to limit their damage. Colby Rasmus who’s in the lineup for Tampa also strikes out at about 28% against righties. On a slate where there isn’t many pitchers to choose from, Straily makes my short list.
I think Garcia is a decent tournament option and one that the field won’t be on but I think he’s risky enough to where I wouldn’t pitch him in cash games. There isn’t a late show, but I will be in chat leading up to lock to help you guys finalize your lineups. Good luck and till next time, party animals!
