FanVice NHL Power Plays 11/3/16

Tonight we have a massive 12 game slate, and a couple big tourneys.  It should be a great night to be playing NHL DFS.  There is also a $100k cross-over sport survivor tournament going on and NHL is the final slate. All teams will cash, but we aren’t just looking to cash.  We want to win the tournament.  Tonight’s key is going to be picking the right value plays as a couple of teams are in a great matchup, and will be popular for the right reason.  I wouldn’t worry about ownership % tonight because the slate is big enough and there will be ownership across the board. Now, lets get on with the GPP plays for tonight!

Remember, if you have any questions or need info, hit me up on twitter @Votts_DFS

Ryan Johansen – NSH vs ARI – $5,500

The Preds have been having trouble getting their offense going but since Peter Laviolette put the top line back together last game of Filip Forsberg (W-$5,900) Johansen and James Neal ($5,700) they accounted for 6 points in a 5-1 win.  If this line stays together they have massive upside with serious offensive prowess.  Arizona has no issues giving goals up either as they rank worst in the league with a 3.89 Goals Against on average.

John Tavares – NYI vs EDM – $7,500

Tavares takes on the Philadelphia Flyers tonight have are on a back to back and are also playing 4 games in 6 nights because of the condensed NHL schedule.  Tavares has 6 points in his last 8 games and is the centerpiece of the Isles offense on even strength and the power play.   The Flyers are giving up the sixth worst amount of goals this year averaging just barely shy of 3 per game.

Nicklas Backstrom – WAS vs WPG – $5,900

Backstrom has been moved back to the top line with his running mate Alexander Ovechkin – W -$8,300.  It has paid off with a point in each of his first 2 games in the line. The caps game looked off last game, which was aganst Winipeg, but that should change tonight at home.  Now that he is with Ovie, look for the points to continue, especially against a Winnipeg team that allows just shy of 3 goals per game.

Ryan O’reilly BUF vs TOR – $6,100

O’reilly has 8 points in 9 games and tonight vs Toronto it will be a higher paced game for Buffalo.  I expect the top line of the Sabres to get plenty of opportunities tonight with Toronto giving up the 4th worst goals against on average at 3.26.

Travis Zajak – NJ vs FLA – $4,200

Zajac has been moved up to the top line with Taylor Hall – W – $6,500 and Mike Cammaleri W – $4,400.  He is also playing on the top power play line alongside Taylor Hall.  Florida is playing their fourth game in six nights which could led to a little bit of sloppy play.  Zajac has five points in his 8 games this year, and playing alongside Hall could only help him accumulate more points.  He also gives you some salary relief for some studs.

Brad Richardson – ARI vs NSH – $3,800

I wrote Richardson up last article and he produced.  I’m going back to the well tonight because we need value to fit in top players. Richardson has 8 points in 9 games and his ice time has constantly increased. Last game he almost had 20 minutes.  If Arizona wants to try to keep the pace with Nashville, they will need to shoot a ton tonight.

Patrick Kane – CHI vs CGY – $8,300

Kaner is coming off a 3 point game and now has 12 points in 10 games.  Tonight should be a higher paced game and Kane thrives in them.  He is an elite winger and can tally points at will.  Colorado ranks the fifth worst in penalty minutes per game at 13 minutes. Look for Kane to get on the score sheet in the power play.

Chris Kreider – NYR vs EDM – $6,700

The Rangers line of Kreider – Mika Zibanejad (C-$6,300) – Mats Zuccarelo (W-$6,600) has been electrifying. They have 8 points in the last 3 games.  Kreider has 9 points in 6 games this year alone.  He makes for a good play tonight against the Oilers, who are allowing 30.5 shots per game. If you can’t fit the top wingers on the slate look down a little to Kreider.

James Neal – NSH vs ARI – $5,700

None of the top line guys on Nashville will break your bank tonight, and I love the stack of this top line against Arizona. And as we all know, PICK ON ARIZONA.  Now that Laviolette assembled the top line of Filip Forsberg (W-$5,900) Ryan Johansen ($5,500) and Neal, They produced right off the bat with 6 points.  Tonight against Arizona they should produce again, especially with Arizona giving up almost 4 goals per game. This is my favorite stack tonight and I’m trying to get them in everywhere.

Matt Hoffman – OTT vs VAN – $6,000

Ottowa is averaging the fifth highest shots per game, firing just shy of 31.  Tonight they get to take on the Canucks, who don’t control the puck much with a CF60 of 45, that’s dead last in the league.  I expect Ottowa to be slinging rubber all night at the net, and Hoffman should be able to make the stat sheet whether it be even strength or on a powerplay.

Matt Moulson – BUF vs TOR – $4,300

Moulson got moved up to the top line for the Sabres and has been playing pretty solid. His ice time is increasing and he is also seeing time on the top power play unit.  With the high pace of tonight’s game, Moulson should see extra shots, which bodes well playing against a Toronto team allowing 3.26 goals against per game.

Mikkel Boedker – SJS vs CGY – $4,400

Peter DeBoer has moved Boedker to the top line with Joe Thorton (C-$5,600) and Joe Pavelski (W – $7,800)  playing alongside them should give Boedker plenty of oppurtunities to shine, especially against a Calgary team that allows two and a half goals per game, and also takes a lot of penalties.  Boedker also plays on the 2nd power play unit, and he makes for a great value play tonight with the salary we need to save.

Brent Burns – SJS vs CGY – $8,500

Burns is expensive I know, but tonight he has a tasty matchup.  His floor is so high because he takes a TON of shots, last game alone he had 11!  He also isn’t scared to block shots either.  When Burns is on the ice you can pretty much just consider him another forward for the sharks. Calgary is an undisciplined team, and that plays right into the strength of burns and the Sharks.  Look for Burns to have a great night.

Erik Karlsson – OTT vs VAN – $7,700

Karlsson will be battling Brent Burns this whole year as they are the top 2 offensive defensemen.  Karlsson is a staple on the Sens offense and also a staple of their power play.  Tonight is a great spot for the pace of the Sens matching up against the Canucks.  Karlsson logs huge minutes and should have something to do with a lot of the scoring that happens tonight, whether it be goals or assists.

Roman Josi – NSH vs ARI – $6,300

It’s tough to pick either Josi or P.K Subban (D-$6,300) as they are the same price, but I like the top line better for the preds and Josi is the QB on the top powerplay line.  You can go to Suban if you want exposure to the other lines as I think he will be less owned also.  They are both great plays in great spots.

Damon Severson – NJ vs FLA -$3,800

Severson has been playing pretty solid with 6 points in 8 games and also mans the point on the power play unit.  He gives you some good salary relief also which is needed tonight.  The Devils should be able to get on the score sheet tonight against a panthers team playing in their fourth game in 6 nights.

Jake Gardiner – TOR vs BUF – $3,500

Gardiner has 6 points in 10 games this year and is averaging some decent ice time at 28 minutes per game.  He is also playing the point for the top power play unit.  He should have a couple opportunities tonight as the Maple leafs are averaging the most shots per game in the league this year so far just over 33.

Braden Holtby – WSH vs WPG – $8,300

Holtby has been playing great this year with 2.13 GAA and .925 SV% in seven starts.  He should face a bunch of shots but should be able to stop the Jets and get the W.  He makes a good play in all formats.

Mike Condon – OTT vs VAN -$7,800

Condon is going to replace Anderson as he is out dealing with his wife and her cancer. Last year Condon was 21-25-6 with a 2.71 GAA and .903 SV% with Montreal.  Vancouver’s offense has forgotten that the season has started as they aren’t even averaging 1 goal per game this year.  The shutout is possible and Condon could make for a good GPP play. (NO CASH)
