FanDuel NFL Value Plays: Week 8
Let’s find some low-cost value plays at each position so you can mix/match your lineups to take down your tournaments this week. Value here are represented by $6,900 or less for quarterbacks, $6,500 or less for running backs/wide receivers, $5,500 or less on tight ends, $4,500 for kicker and $4,500 and lower for defenses.
We’re looking at Sun-Mon slate only, so if you have any questions, hit me up in the Comments Area or reach out to me on Twitter @JasonWalkerDFS.
Brock Osweiler – HOU vs. DET – $6,600 – Last chance for Mr. Osweiler. Not with the Texans, who are financially indebted to the young signal-caller for at least this season and next, but with DFS players, who find the erratic QB in the best possible situation to succeed against the league’s worst pass defense.
Josh McCown – CLE vs. NJY – $6,400 – Looks like the veteran will be ready in time for this game, and he should hurry, as the Jets are just above the Lions in the pass defense category and have been a magic elixir for opponents, allowing the ninth most FanDuel points per game from the QB position.
Devontae Booker – DEN vs. SD – $5,600 – Meet the Week 8 chalk. A must in cash games this week, even in tourneys, the chalk hasn’t been quite as owned as maybe it should be. In this case, against a less than average run defense in the Chargers, playing at home in the second matchup between these teams AND the Broncos being the sixth best run blocking offensive line in the league, you shouldn’t overthink this.
Frank Gore – IND vs. KC – $6,300 – Gore received 81 percent of the snaps last week and was even targeted five times in the pass game and now runs behind the seventh best run blocking offensive line in the league. The game total is 50 right now and the Chiefs’ defensive line is 30th against the run this season.
Theo Riddick – DET at HOU – $5,900 – After dog paddling at running back the last two weeks, the Lions get Riddick back in practice and expected to play against the Texans. Riddick was dominating the touches/snaps at the RB position before getting hurt, and gets the pass targets of a WR2 along with the carries. Riddick also leads the Lions in red zone looks with 12, despite missing the last two games.
Giovani Bernard – CIN vs. WAS – $6,200 – Even with teammate RB Jeremy Hill having a big game, it was Bernard who outsnapped and outtouched his productive teammate against the woebegone Cleveland Browns. Such should be the case again this week against an almost equally troubled run defense in Washington.
Donte Moncrief – IND vs. KC – $5,400 – Moncrief has surprised by jumping back into practice this week after his injured scapula has kept him out for five weeks. If he’s 100 percent, he’s going to get targets close to, if not more than, the seven he received Week 1 as the Colts are slight underdogs at home against the Chiefs and Indy has the sixth highest pass play percentage this season.
Michael Thomas – NO vs. SEA – $5,700 – Against the Seahawks, it’s not a great matchup, but that’s priced in here. Drew Brees at home is bankable even against the best defenses and Thomas has received 38 targets over the last four games.
Tyrell Williams – SD at DEN – $5,800 – Another tough matchup here, but value is so scarce you should look for volume if you want to go deep this week. Williams has a positive individual matchup against Bradley Roby, and is coming off a 10 target week and is second on the team in targets this season.
Mohamed Sanu – ATL vs. GB – $5,600 – Sanu has 14 targets the last two weeks, has the best individual matchup of all the Falcons receivers and the Falcons have the third best passing attack in the league this year. They are at home, on the fast track of the Georgia Dome and the game total is a hefty 52.5 points.
Kyle Rudolph – MIN vs. CHI – $5,100 – Rudolph is third among all tight ends in targets per game with 8.0. Chicago is in the bottom half of the league defending the tight end and Rudolph is in on nearly every single snap for the Vikings.
Gary Barnidge – CLE at CIN – $5,000 – Especially with McCown probable to be the quarterback for the Browns this week, Barnidge will get to oppose the porous Jets defense, which has allowed over 8 passes per game to tight ends and has the 31st ranked defense overall.
C.J. Fiedorowicz – HOU vs. DET – $4,900 – He has stepped forward for the Texans to be a solid pass target and the Lions are dead last in short pass defense and 27th against the tight end specifically.
Kickers and Defense:
New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills – $4,500 – Buffalo has the lowest total of any team opposing the defenses that are $4,500 and below and being the second matchup between the two teams, the quarterback performance tends to be below expected production.
Roberto Aguayo – TB vs. OAK – $4,500 – Highest total for kickers in this sample, Aguayo should be in position to rack up the points at home with a positive game script.
Good luck! – Jason
